using key without activating anti-theft

Is there a way I can use the key, not the key fob, so I can manually lock and unlock my 2023 Buick Enclave without activating the anti-theft alarm? The last time I went whitewater kayaking, I had to leave my key fob inside my vehicle and locked the driver's door with the key. But the alarm sets off when I try to unlock my vehicle with just the key. The horns wouldn't stop until I press the unlock button on my key fob. I don't think that's the only solution? If anyone here has an idea what I can do, please drop me a message!

Wait, so you lock and unlock it with the mechanical key and leay the fob inside and that activates the alarm? I don't think it shouldn't do that. Might want to ask at the dealer about this, or if you're into investing, you can consider a hitch safe

The physical key will open the door, but unless the system sees the fob nearby, it thinks it's a break in and triggers the alarm. One workaround I've seen for outdoor trips is to get a small RFID blocking key pouch, keep the fob in that outside the car, like in a tow hitch safe or locked roof box so that way it stays dry, you still have access, and the system won't freak out when you open with the key, not full proof though

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. Those modern keyless systems can be surprisingly overzealous.

I remember a few years back, I had a bit of a mishap while camping with my old RAV4 Hybrid. I had tucked the key fob away deep in my bag to keep it dry overnight, and when I went to grab my coffee supplies in the morning using the physical key, the alarm went absolutely crazy. Picture this, out in the wilderness at 6 AM. I ended up pressing the fob against the windshield just to silence it

Stash the fob in a faraday bag inside or outside the car so it's safe but still usable after, kind of a pain, but seems to be the only workaround unless GM updates the logic
