2008 Buick Enclave problems.

Hey I own a 2008 Buick enclave cxl and I believe it has some sort of long distance cooling problem of some sort but I'm no professional lol. When I drove it to Houston it was about an hour 45 min drive and about an hour into the drive the car started to over heat and then it started pushing like up to 4k rpm and wasnt accelerating to much but was still slowly gaining speed. I ended up having to drive it like this for about another hour to get close enough for a tow that I was able to afford. When it cooled off the next day I was able to drive it agin but I know my Buick isn't supposed to do that and I'm trying to get this fixed before my kid is born in like a month and a half. Please if anyone knows about anything like this let me know I will be extremely greatful.

Hey, has this been sorted out? Congratulations on the (soon-to-be-born-yet?) little one! The overheating and high RPM thing is a tell-tale sign of a transmission problem, specifically the wave plate failure in the 3-5-R clutch pack. The cooling problem isn't the primary issue. The transmission slipping and not engaging properly generates a ton of heat, which then causes the engine to overheat. It's a common problem with the GM 6T75 transmission from that era. Unfortunately, it's not a cheap or easy fix and usually requires a full transmission rebuild or replacement. I'd definitely get it to a transmission shop that's familiar with these GM units.
